We had a Birthday tea for Hannah today. Yes, I know her birthday is in May but what can I say...I do all things in such a "timely" manner! Everyone but 2 of her friends where able to make it. The girls had fun playing games, decorating crowns and wearing bright pink feather boas!(We had to hold Mary back from wearing one as you all know what a "girly-girl" she is!) I'm going to be picking up feathers for awhile as the boas where molting! ^_^ Hard to believe Hannah is 7!

Some pics of our walk on Father's Day
It was a gorgeous night here for Father's Day and it cooled off a bit, so we decided to go on a walk. Where? Well, to the beach of course! ^_^ That is usually where you can find us! Anyway, here are some miscellaneous pics.

Siver Hawks
Last night we drove to South Bend to watch the Silver Hawks(minor league baseball) play the Fort Wayne Tincaps. John's friend from work also went with us. He used Mary's ticket as she came down with a cold and didn't feel well enough to go with us. The Whirlpool Leaders Club planned the outing for employees and their families. They booked the "Upper Deck" which is boxed seating. We ate dinner in there and it was a neat experience as neither of us have done something like it before. However, we eventually did go outside to enjoy the game. It was a beautiful night and its more fun to experience the "atmosphere" of the game out of doors.
Hannah liked Swoop who is the teams mascot! There was some debate with Hannah as to whether Swoop was a hawk or a chicken. She thought he looked more like a chicken than a hawk! We'll let you decide! ^_^ The stadium is very family friendly with activities between innings and they even have a kids play area!
After a massive consumption of cotton candy,a few beers for the men and rooting for the home team the Silver Hawks lost to the Tincaps. After the game there were fireworks and boy, they were awesome! Some of the best we've seen! All in all a very fun night!

Our Cheerleader!
Last week Hannah went to Cheer camp at the high school. The varsity cheerleaders ran the camp and taught the girls tumbling and a few cheers! On the last day of camp, each group of girls(they separated them by age) performed the cheers they learned. Hannah really enjoyed herself and wants to go to the camp the varsity cheerleaders are having in the fall.

A Winter Outing
Finally, a winter day that you could go out and enjoy without freezing and your lips turning blue! John, Jared, Hannah and myself piled in the car and headed off to the Sarette Nature Center to go cross country skiing! Mary had a lot of homework and was unable to go with us. This was Hannah's first try at skiing and she did great! It felt so good to be outside and in the sunshine. The center has some beautiful trails(fortunately some without a lot of hills as some of us where a "little" rusty on skiis!) and God's creation was at their best!

Fiesta Bowl Bound
At 7:45 this morning a charter bus waited to take part of the Lakeshore band to Chicago O'Hare airport. The bus was enthusiastically packed, people checked and accounted for on "the list" and said people settled in the bus for the drive. As the bus pulled out of the parking lot, a part of my heart left on that bus. Yes, Mary is on her way to Arizona! Her flight out of Chicago leaves around 12:00 pm and they should arrive in Arizona around 5 pm, our time. I am so excited for her~ they have a full schedule which includes practice and performing but a lot of fun stuff too! Please pray for safe travel for everyone and that everyone (including luggage ^_^) gets where they are supposed to be in one piece!
If anyone is interested there is a website that has info on the competition and also what the bands will be doing. There is supposed to be a web cam set up so the performance can be viewed. The competition is on Jan.1 and Lakeshore marches at or around 12:15. This time is Arizona time, I believe they are 2 hours behind us. If Lakeshore makes the finals(only 8 bands will move on) they will march again around 6 pm. The web site is fiestabands.com. They have also set up a page for each band and for that you need the password. The login/username is lakeshore and the password is blossom.
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and were able to enjoy being with family and friends during this blessed time of year!
